Smart Style

What I wear is important to me. Like many girls, I like to feel as if I have my own unique style & feel comfortable in the clothes I wear. It is unfortunate that so many of the clothing companies most people shop at today mass produce cheap clothing at the expense of other people, animals & the environment. While I still have plenty of clothes from the typical "fashionable" shops, I have been trying to become more aware of where my clothing comes from. There are companies that are trying to make a difference by making sure workers are treated fairly, materials are sustainable, & the manufacturing process is environmentally friendly.
Threads for Thought is a company that produces reasonably priced, high quality products in a sustainable manner. I think it is important to support companies that are trying to make a difference, and care more about doing the right thing, rather than making more money.

Many people are familiar with TOMS shoes. Their One for One motto has become extremely popular all over the world. With every purchase, TOMS provides someone in need with a pair of shoes. While the company started with shoes, TOMS has grown to support a number of causes including improved access to water, bullying prevention, & helping to provide safe birth. TOMS has also expanded into selling not only shoes, but also bags, apparel, accessories, eyewear & more. It is inspiring to see how many people support a company like TOMS knowing that when you purchase a product, you are in turn doing a good deed.

Mini Travel Essentials

As someone who travels fairly often, I know it can be difficult to figure out what to bring on a trip. If you are only going somewhere for a few days, and you don't plan on checking a bag, it is worth buying mini travel essentials so that you can bring everything on the plane. As most people probably already know, all liquids must be 3 oz. or less.
For me, packing light & simply is important. I also prefer to use the same natural products I use at home, while on the road. Luckily, there are tons of natural, cruelty-free companies that make airplane sized travel essentials.
I often use Toms toothpaste- it is fresh & reasonably priced. Giovanni & Earth Science both make quality hair products (also available in mini sizes). I always make sure to bring my natural make up with me as well. Honeybee Gardens powder is my favorite.
I will usually stop in a Whole Foods before a trip to pick up any travel essentials. I know I can count on any products they sell to be natural, cruelty-free, & of the best quality. However, you can find most of the same products online, in some specialty stores, and even in your local supermarket. I have been happy to find many of the same natural products I used to have to search for, now being sold at Publix and other big grocery stores. People are starting to care about what they put both in & on their body. People (the consumers) are the one's that will change the world, hopefully for the better :)
